Junior finally acknowledged that his Administration could attempt to reduce Social Security benefits for workers, a reversal from his core campaign pledges in 2000. Specifically, Junior was asked his opinion on Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's assertion that, in order to balance the budget, Social Security benefits should be cut. Junior responded, "My position on Social Security is this: those benefits should not be changed for people at or near retirement." However, Junior specifically refused to say he opposed cutting future guaranteed benefits for younger and middle-aged workers.

For all of you younger people who do not make your fortune gambling, which is very dubious at best, you might have to go to one of the "faith based" providers to beg for a handout! But then again, do you really think that Junior cares?

Lt. Dan - Why don't you try and take some repsonsibility for your own retirement and stop begging for government handouts....

Damn, always looking for a handout. Unbelievable! That's the typical liberal view though wait for someone to give you something than making it happen yourself. That's why you guys want to steal from the hard working rich people and give to the lazy poor people.

You guys kill me.

So you begging when you have to stand face to face with someone but it is OK to rape the income tax payers on this country?
Yeh, that means you'll have to crawl out of bed sometime during the day, comb your hair, and show your face in public rather than picking up the check out of the mailbox. The things Junior is going to make you do - pathetic. Get a job and then take some resposibility. Looked in the paper this morning and plenty of jobs are still available.

Rape the income tax payers of this country ?

Well how do you expect to run this mammoth budget that GW has put fourth in the last 3.5 years. We are going to run new countries out of Washington DC. Overall I feel we get a decent return on our taxes i.e police protection, country defended, schools roads plowed. Its the Health care costs and jobs leaving this country that will bury us

I'd be more than happy not recieve SS,if I didn't have to pay into it.That however is not an option. But once they take our money ,we deserve it back.I for one feel that SS,should be optional.

Here we have the Canadian Pension Plan equivalent to your SS ... I agree with Bush (can't believe I'm saying that) to not reduce the amount of SS to people at or near retirement. These are not people who can just jump back into the workforce if need be. However, I also think that these programs should only be for those who really need it -- I don't know how it works in the US, but here, everyone gets it. It's plain stupid. By the time I retire, CPP will probably be non-existent, which won't matter much to me personally since I do have my own retirement plan, but there may be people who will need it at that time.

There are so many levels of the welfare system that could be such a force for good, but are handled so misguidedly that they are unsustainable. Governments need to manage these systems better in their creation stages.

Judge GW brought the idea of of having an optional plan for SS 3 years ago but the dems flatley rejected it.
see the dems are pro choice except when it comes to education and where you invest your money.

This country is doomed. No getting better. Take some pictures now, while you are rich and do not even realize it.

Hopefully we can choose another country to invade and spend some more of those SS funds.
